Longobardi Restaurant in Wappingers Falls is a friendly Italian restaurant great for a family outing or a romantic dinner. The food is wonderful and the service is of good quality. The menu selections are varied and the atmosphere is welcoming. It’s the kind of place you want to go back to, even if it’s just for a drink and some of their delicious bread.

Longobardi’s is a good-sized restaurant. There are booths and tables. The tables are all fairly close together, but there is definitely room to move around. There are actually two rooms in the restaurant. One is a bit smaller and can be used for parties.

The general atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. The lowered lighting level makes it intimate, but there is still enough light to see your food by. You sit close to your companions and the people at surrounding tables, but you’re not rubbing elbows. It’s small and quiet, but you don’t feel like you’re crammed into the space. You feel comfortable no matter where you sit.

The food at Longobardi’s is decently priced. The appetizers are generally between 7 and 13 dollars. Pasta dishes cost an average of 10 to 15 dollars. Sandwiches will cost you between 6 and 8 dollars on average.

There is a seafood section on the menu and these dishes are a bit pricier. The alcoholic beverages are also a little pricey, but not unreasonable. One drink per person is affordable if you’re willing to spend a little extra money. The dessert menu is decently priced and well worth the money. Plan on spending an average of 10 to 20 dollars per person on the whole meal, depending on what you order.

Every table receives a basket of bread shortly after being seated. The bread is delicious. It’s that perfect combination of soft on the inside with a thin, crunchy crust. Each table also gets a plate of the same bread, but it has been grilled and is topped with various herbs and diced tomato. It was delectable. We all wanted more but were afraid we wouldn’t be able to finish our meal.

The pastas are delicious. The ravioli comes with a choice of sauce. Each sauce determines the price of the dish. I went with the meat sauce. It was so good that I started eating it by itself once I’d run out of ravioli. The gnocchi is also wonderful and you have a choice of sauces for it as well. Just be aware that it can cost extra for the sauce. It cost us an extra two dollars to have alfredo sauce as opposed to however the dish is traditionally served.

The sandwiches are also very good. They are perfect for someone who doesn’t have a large appetite and wants to save a few dollars.
The desserts were absolutely wonderful. The dessert menu includes traditional Italian fare, like tiramisu and spumoni. There are also some “standard” desserts offered, like cheesecake.

The cannolis are delicious. The cream filling is good enough that you could eat just that and forget the pastry. You don’t want to leave a crumb behind. There is also a delicious lava cake dessert. It’s a small chocolate cake drizzled with a chocolate sauce and served with vanilla ice cream. Anyone who loves chocolate will love this dessert, no question.

We didn’t have the opportunity to try any others, but I could have spent all night on the dessert menu if I’d had room for more food.
The service at Longobardi’s is good. The waitress forgot a beverage one time, but she quickly apologized and brought it out immediately. Everyone was very accommodating and willing to assist us. We weren’t rushed out after we finished our meal. Each person that worked there made us feel welcome and like we were a part of the family.

I highly recommend Longobardi’s. The food was excellent, the service was good, and the atmosphere was great. It’s definitely one place that I’d like to go back to. Next time I’ll have to try a different pasta, or maybe one of the sandwiches. There were so many good looking choices that it will be a tough decision. If you’re looking for great Italian food and a good time, head on over to Longobardi’s.
